Snorkeling at Baie Rouge

We added a new adventure and beach to our lists this weekend.

We went snorkeling with Austin and Stephanie Wride (a couple I've mentioned quite a few times in past posts) on Saturday at Baie Rouge Bay or beach.

The white "specs" in this picture are actually buildings on the island of Anguilla. Its about 7 miles away from Saint Marten

That is Stephanie swimming, the water is so clear here.

Since Austin and Stephanie had been here before and had been snorkeling, Austin took Aaron and I to show us some of the good places to snorkel. We left Addison with Stephanie and Kate and took off. I'm not a super strong swimmer, and snorkeling just scares me a little for some reason. I'm not sure if its the feeling of the tube being my only means of air, or not being able to touch the bottom or what but we only got around the corner when I didn't think I could go any further. So I jumped up on the rocks, which turns out wasn't smart because there could have been Sea Urchins, luckily I didn't sit on one. I ended up swimming back and hung out with Addison, Stephanie and Kate. We played in the water and watched the school of fish that was near us in the water.

Closest picture I could find to the Angel fish we saw.

We saw just those fish by the shore, they were swimming all around close by. Some other tourists were feeding them dog biscuits. We will have to bring bread or dog biscuits next time to try and grab some fishes attention!

After I swam back, Austin and Aaron swam back to go do their snorkeling. They went really far, so I was glad I went back because they would not have had a chance to go as far if I had continued to go with them. They saw some pretty cool things and good some pretty good pictures.

Aaron Snorkeling.

This is almost to another beach. Austin later said they swam about 2/3  a mile (with going there and back)

They swam through this opening.

Aarons sweet selfie

Round coral maybe? I thought it was a toilet seat but Aaron said it wasn't.

Aaron and Austin got to see a few cool things. Austin said he has seen star fish and even an octopus over in this area. So it is a pretty good spot to snorkel. We enjoyed swimming and playing in the water. We even played in the sand.

Cute little girls!

We had a lot fun, and were glad that the men could join us too. After word, we were all starving so we decided to go to this place over by our houses called Bar Code. They have the most amazing burgers, and they aren't your usual American, Mcdonalds, or burger king burgers. They have a Manhattan one which Stephanie loves, that has apples and pecans and such on them. Then there is the BBQ pulled sand which that is really good, and the one I had which was a Southern Style one, that had bacon and spicy mayo and a few other things. They have another one called the Mediterranean that has Caviar on it. (YUCK). All there buns are freshly made and are just delicious. Its also a restaurant that gives you an AUC discount, so that is fantastic. Aaron and I can not wait to go back.

Little side information about most restaurants here. You have to ask for tap water if you do not want to pay for bottle water or other water that comes in their glass jars. They don't have fountain drinks here (unless they do at McDonalds, Burger King, or KFC). So anytime you get a soda its a can of soda. You have to ask for separate checks. If you don't ask for separate checks they put you all on one bill and will not split it later.
